Welcoming players from absolute beginners to advanced students and professionals, Alec brings a thoughtful, nuanced approach to teaching—with an understanding that there’s a limitless expanse of discovery beyond where to place your fingers.
With 23 years of performance and practice experience, 7 years of dedicated teaching, and multiple international competition wins, Alec offers students a grounded, effective path to musical growth. He holds a Bachelor of Music from The Curtis Institute of Music and a Master of Music from The San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
Lessons are tailored to each individual, with a balance of structure, exploration, and open dialogue. After each lesson, Alec sends a personalized email or video summary (called the Post Lesson Review) that recaps what was covered and outlines what to focus on in the coming week—providing a clear, thoughtful roadmap for continued progress between lessons.
“Alec is insightful, inspiring, patient, and kind. The post-lesson reviews are worth their weight in gold—reflecting real care and thoughtful instruction well beyond the lesson itself. Best bang for the buck at this level of teaching.” – John, FL
“Alec is easily the best teacher I’ve had—and, at 68, I’ve had my share of teachers.” – Eric, NC
“There’s never a moment when Alec isn’t completely invested in a lesson. He brings full attention and helps get right to the heart of what’s holding me back.” Siddharth, OR
Whether you’re a dedicated player looking to refine your craft, someone just getting started with music, or someone rediscovering music after years away, Alec’s lessons offer more than just instruction—they offer a path to meaningful growth and a deeper relationship with your instrument and music.
